Quotes

" I could do something like that someday....
You have all your best pals out there being groovy
and making it interesting. I mean if I had a "special" I'd have
a few people who mean something to me."
- George Harrison

"All I wanted to do was really share our love for
George and his music with the people.
I needed to do this for him, but it's for most of all -
I needed to be able to express my grief
in this sort of way."
- Eric Clapton

" George kept up a relationship with everybody on
that stage, like old friend's week; old pals on stage,
hanging out in rehearsals and backstage.
It was a great way of getting closure because we all
had our stories and our memories, our laughter
and sad points of view.
It was so great to be around all these people.
We could laugh and cry about different moments in
our lives with George." - Ringo Starr

"Sometimes if you'd go around to George's house
after you'd have dinner, the ukuleles would come out.
One time, not so long ago, we were playing and I
said, "There's a song I do on the ukulele."
I played it for him and I'll play it to you now as a
tribute to our beautiful friend." - Paul McCartney

George was like a son to me, and my Indian namefor
him was 'Jayaraj.' This is a song for my dear George:
'Jayaraj Hari Sana Treet Kiya, Jagat Ko Kitna Geet Diya
Wo mahan ko hum Smaran Karen
Wo mahan ko hum Smaran Karen'

George loved Krishna, whos name was also Hari,
and ths song's translation is:

'Jayaraj (George) was in love with Krishna or Hari
He gave so many songs to this world
We are remembering that Great Soul
And we salute him with love and respect."

- Ravi Shankar, Nov. 2002

"His music is known worldwide because it is just
lovely music, very pure music.
Not afraid to say what's on his mind ever.
I always feel luck that I crossed paths
with someone like that." - Tom Petty

"A few of the guys had not met before and became
great pals.. Just how you'd like it, really -
nice people wanting to do good for George." - Jeff Lynne

"It couldn't just be an average performance
on an ordinary day.
It was absolutely everyone at their peak.I think the energy there must have been hitting
way above the levels."
- Micheal Palin

" In life's usual strange way, it seemed that George had to
leave before this particular gathering

could have happend. It was an exotic sound stage, the
music, culture and friendship of East and West mingling;
new to come, but to George a way of life.
Each note and lyric of George's songs was treated with
reverence and, of course, his words became a constant
dialoge to us. Especialy lines like,

" Beware of sadness, it can hit you, it can hurt you
Make you sor and what is more
That is not what we are here for.'

"So we tried not to be sad, but instead celebrated the life
and music of a great artiste, the beautiful 'quiet' one from
Liverpool who became a man of many words as well as
worlds, a wise and coveted firend, father and seeker who
transended the distractions of success and fame to
maintain a one-pointed focus upon goal of spiritual
awakening. He did all this while entertaining the world
and having an equal measure of fun along the way."

- Olivia Harrison
